Food gives humans energy and nutrients to grow and develop, be healthy and active, move, work, play, think and learn.
The SPENS project realizes that food is not available to everyone and has been working for the last 15 years in the communities of Windhoek.
What is the SPENS Project?
The Dutch Reformed Church Eros has a SPENS project that provides dry rations to needy groups in Windhoek on a monthly basis in accordance with the Vision of the Dutch Reformed Church Eros and to support Evangelism work. Currently, they reach about 780 people.
How does the SPENS project work?
It is a virtual pantry whereby donations of food can be delivered or bought and distributed to vulnerable people.
Namib Mills supplies pasta, rice and flour in bulk, which is then divided into smaller packages. Imago Dei supports the SPENS project with funds to purchase the rest of the food rations. Volunteers meet monthly to pack the supplies for the various projects and are responsible for visiting the various projects and monitoring that food supplies are properly administered.
